Inspiration:
When I am wildcrafting in the forest, I never have a plan where I am going to go. I have access to thousands of acres of uninhabited woodland. I just wander around as I have an excellent sense of direction. Every now and then I come across a glade in the forest made by some blown down or beaver harvested trees. Sometimes, the clearing is caused winter grazing moose and rabbits keeping the trees low or poor soil conditions. These sunlit spaces appear through the dark forest like glittering, fairy kingdoms and I am always attracted to them. Glades have the interesting fragrance of both meadow and forest combined. The conifer scents along the edge of the glades mingle with the aromas of wild flowers and grasses. They are always filled with life; colorful butterflies, buzzing insect and song birds making glades a truly enchanting place to rest for a while. Not only for me, but the deer that sometimes bed down on the grasses at night, leaving pressed grass impressions of their stay.
