FOREST SHAMANS

It takes me several months to gather all the ingredients for “Forest Shamans” and more than a month to complete the blend.  Most of the ingredients are harvested, within a few kilometers of each other, in the healthy forest ecosystem where I live most of the year.  My process of making “Forest Shamans”  is inspired by the ancient Egyptian temple incense-making process called Kyphi.  Although “Forest Shamans” has a rougher, more rustic appearance than finely-polished, traditional Kyphi, it is just as sacred.

The fragrance of the incense changes over time.  It starts with the notes of conifer resins and the more subtle notes of shamanic aromatic plants, then evolves to the earthy scent of mushrooms and sacred roots, and ends with the balsamic, spiritual scent of poplar buds and propolis.  Many lovers of “Forest Shamans” incense say that it’s aroma reminds them of a walk in the forest in early spring.
