Kyphi is the name given to a sophisticated blend of incense from ancient Egypt, used at the end of the day and to welcome the night. Kyphi “Moon Pearls” is a blend primarily based on the known ingredients in the traditional blends. Following the traditional process for making Kyphi, I’ve added a few touches of my own, to deepen the fragrance of the blend and make it more creamy and sensuous. An incense perfect for romantic evenings and connecting with the invisibles during the full moon.
Incense Notes: Deep Amber, Resins, Spices Musks, Mysterious
INGREDIENTS: Resins: black and green Frankincense resin, myrrh, black and white Benzoin resin, Storax resin, Labdanum resin, Propolis. Herbs: Rose Monarda flowers and leaves, Rose petals, Iris root, cinnamon bark, cloves, nutmeg. Wood: Sandalwood, Palo Santo bound with honey, red wine and raisins. Dusted with moon lit mica (no nanoparticles).
Heat this incense on an electric incense heater at 180º
Inspiration:
There are many recipes for Kyphi written on the walls of pyramids and temples. Still, as of yet, not all of the ingredients have been positively identified. The formulas for Kyphi are complex recipes. There are several stages, that take weeks and sometimes months to complete. In Egypt, these steps were performed by priests and priestesses; accompanied by rituals including chanting, which was said to infuse the incense with energy. The Greek historian Plutarch wrote that smelling Kyphi was like listening to beautiful music.
